Town Hall Birmingham Reopens October
Town Hall Birmingham is currently undergoing a £35million renovation and will reopen in October 2007. The Town Hall, a Grade 1 listed building, was built in 1834 and despite being one of Britain’s great classical buildings, was closed in 1996 because of safety concerns.

The building is being totally restored with a single balcony overlooking a flat-floor auditorium and stage. An acoustic canopy is being installed together with the latest AV and lighting equipment, whilst maintaining the original features and style of the building. Two new lifts have been installed and the basement has been converted as additional meeting space. The stonework repairs have been extensive and painstaking to the point of opening a special quarry in Anglesey to source materials close to the original.

The Town Hall’s remit will be to provide a platform for local users, alongside national and international music festivals. It also offers top quality banqueting facilities for up to 250 guests on round tables with a dance floor. Catering is by the locally-based Redclifffe Catering Services who also cater at Birmingham’s Botanical Gardens and several other local sites. The Town Hall, a five minute walk from Birmingham New Street station, promises to be an excellent banqueting venue in the heart of the city.
