Apex announces an Expansion
Apex Hotels have announced two further site acquisitions for hotel development - in Edinburgh and London. Situated on Waterloo Place, the Edinburgh property is located at the east end of Princes Street, just one minute from Waverley Station and close to
the main shopping district. The landmark building was the first large-scale
hotel in Edinburgh and Apex plan to return the property back to hotel trading. The investment will be in excess of £30 million and 180 contemporary-styled design-led bedrooms will be the result.
In London Apex are planning to convert a former office block. Located on Copthall Avenue in the heart of the City, the hotel will be minutes from Moorgate and Bank underground stations, the Bank of England and Guildhall. A stylish 70-80 bedroom hotel complete with restaurant, bar, conference facilities and a fitness suite is the aim, for an investment of around £25 million.
Also in London, Apex have purchased property on Mark Lane, adjacent to the Apex City of London Hotel on Seething Lane, and plan to spend a further £6 million developing this existing office block into an executive wing with 36 additional bedrooms.
Subject to gaining planning approval, these latest acquisitions will bring the Apex Hotels portfolio to seven properties.
