The Connaught to close for restoration
The Connaught Hotel, one of London's finest establishments in Mayfair, closes on 30 March for a multi-million pound restoration. The first phase will include an 'infrastructure audit' of the 108-year-old building. This is due for completion by mid-November and will result in 40 totally restyled bedrooms, a new restaurant and new public areas. Phase 2 will include the building of a brand new wing of 31 bedrooms, a new spa and leisure facility plus a state of the art conference and banqueting suite, scheduled to open in spring 2008.

The new-look Connaught is seeking a modern structure more fitting to today's world whilst maintaining the intimacy and style for which it is renowned. It is 'business as usual' until the end of March. At this point existing staff at the Connaught will transfer to either The Berkeley or Claridge's for the duration of the refurbishment before returning in time for the grand reopening.
